Böhler Franken Koppe Wijngaarden
advocaten (BFKW) is a young, dynamic Amsterdam law
firm which has 17 attorneys
with accomplished track records. BFKW is prominent in
the Netherlands for operating on the cusp between politics
and law, where the power of the state comes into conflict
with the rights of the individual.
The
firm co-operates closely with the international law department
of the University of Amsterdam. Prof. A. Nollkaemper,
professor of international law at the UvA advises BFKW
and acts as a liaison with the University Law
clinic, made up of promising students of international
law.
BFKW concentrates its work in three areas of law:
criminal law,
immigration law and international
law & human rights. Naturally, these three areas can be
further subdivided into specialist branches, but in general
the opposing party will be the state (the Public Prosecution
Service, the Minister of Justice, the Immigration and
Naturalization Service, the police or the AIVD). Civil
litigation is therefore another priority area for BFKW,
insofar as unlawful action by the state against the
individual citizen is at issue.
Each of these three areas of law has a department of
its own. If you wish to read more, please click on areas
of expertise. Any further questions or requests
can be addressed to Michiel
Pestman /Victor
Koppe (regarding criminal law), to Marq
Wijngaarden/Flip
Schüller (regarding immigration law) and to Britta
Böhler/Liesbeth
Zegveld (regarding international law & human
rights).
