Stijn Franken

Prof. Stijn Franken (1967) studied law in Tilburg. In
1993 he obtained a doctorate at that university and
in the same year was sworn in as an attorney in The
Hague. In 1998 he was sworn in in Amsterdam and became
a partner at Böhler Franken Koppe Wijngaarden.
He is a member of the
criminal law department, focusing on litigation
at the Supreme Court and the European Court of Human
Rights. In 2003 Prof. Stijn Franken became professor
of criminal law and criminal procedure at the University
of Utrecht. He is also vice-chairman of the Dutch
Association of Criminal Law Attorneys, a member of the
Criminal Law Advisory Committee of the Netherlands Bar
Association, and a member of the Professional Football
Appeals Committee. He has many publications on criminal
law to his credit.
