asylum
Legislation in the area of refugee law has become increasingly
strict, which has resulted in a sharp decrease in the number
of refugees seeking asylum in the Netherlands. Most refugees
are denied asylum within 48 hours of their application, usually
because they have no or inadequate identity documents, or
because the IND simply does not believe the refugee's statement.
Due to the rapidity with which the IND takes their decisions,
mistakes are inevitable, and many people are denied protection
unjustly. Once asylum has been refused it is very hard to
reverse the decision. Specialized legal assistance from the
moment of application is therefore of crucial importance.
BFKW is represented at the 'Aanmeldcentrum' at Schiphol
airport.
BFKW
can also help with repeated or second asylum requests. We
can inform you about the options available and your chances
of success in such further asylum applications.
BFKW
has particular expertise in Kurdish, Afghan and Somali cases.
We also specialize in cases involving complicated trauma and
so called '1F-cases', in which asylum is denied because there
are serious grounds for believing that the applicant has committed
war crimes or crimes against humanity in their country of
origin.
